His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under instruc- tions from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, ALEC FLEMING CHURCHILL to be First Assistant Director of Public Works with effect from the 27th November, 1910, vice PATRICK NICHOLAS HILL JONES, transferred to the Gold Coast.

273 of the 12th. ultimo, I have the honour to confirm

my telegram of the 14th. instant of which a copy is en-

-closed.

Mr. F. A. Cooper, the present

Director of Public Works in Ceylon, is, as you are aware

thoroughly conversant with the conditions of this Colony.

If, therefore, he agrees in recommending the appointment

of Mr. A. F. Churchill, a First Grade District Engineer

with excellent qualifications, I have the honour to

request that the appointment may be made and that Mr.

Churchill may be instructed to proceed to Hongkong with as

little delay as possible.
